Twitter’s new front page

Twitter has just released a new front page design that puts Twitter search front and center.puppy - Twitter Search

This makes Twitter content more accessible for people who don’t have accounts. Of course, anyone could use Twitter search before but now it’s more in your face that you don’t need an account to take advantage.

I wonder how this will work out. Will fewer people join overall? Will those who do decide to join be people who’ve taken the time to search and lurk and therefore be more likely to stick around after joining (unlike the majority who seem to join, post, and leave)?

puppy - Google SearchTwitter search is quickly becoming one of the best tools for discovering what people are thinking and talking about right now. In fact I use a Greasemonkey script in Firefox that adds Twitter results to the top of any search I run in Google. Sometimes I don’t need to look beyond those results to find what I’m looking for.

If you don’t already use Twitter, give the search a try. You may find an untapped resource you’ll use time and time again.
